O'Brien's Heating
A text-first AI booking app that lets a busy boiler engineer fill his diary by area — from four days of texts to one confirmed booking in three steps.

- Scope
- AI fault triage, area-clustered booking, text reminders, owner dashboard

The problem
- Every booking started with a missed call. Declan can't answer the phone with his head inside a boiler, so customers left voicemails and the back-and-forth began.
- Getting one job into the diary could take four days of texts, often answered at 9pm after a full day's work.
- Jobs landed wherever there was a gap, so he'd drive from Dalkey to Stillorgan and back again — and every missed call risked a customer ringing the next engineer on Google.
The approach
- A text-first booking flow: customers describe the problem in plain English — "it's banging" is enough — and the AI explains the likely causes.
- Slots are only offered when Declan is already working nearby, so a Blackrock customer gets the day he's in Blackrock.
- Gas-leak guidance comes first: anyone smelling gas is sent straight to Gas Networks Ireland instead of a booking form.
What we built
- Plain-English AI fault triage
- Area-clustered booking slots
- Two-hour arrival windows
- Text reminders with reply-to-reschedule
- Gas emergency deflection
- Owner dashboard and inbox

Inside the product
A closer look, screen by screen.
Book Declan by text. Sorted in two minutes.
The public site replaces phone tag with one tidy chat — before and after, side by side.

Plain English in, a route-clustered slot out.
The assistant gathers the boiler, Eircode and symptom, then offers times when Declan is already in that area.

"I smell gas" never reaches a booking form.
Emergencies are detected instantly, the chat closes, and the customer is sent to Gas Networks Ireland.

Declan's whole day at a glance.
Every job with its time window, problem, boiler and area — plus Call, Directions and Running late in one tap.

Built for a phone in a van.
A mobile inbox flags deflected emergencies and shows which customers are booked or still picking a time.
